Eagle Scout gets solar power to Camp Hope

JosephsolarBulletinJoseph Strawn, 16, an Eagle Scout candidate from Boy Scout Troop 173, takes pictures of Postive Energy Solar’s Eddie Marrufo and Mark Eshelman installing solar panels Saturday, March 28, to the “guard shack” at Camp Hope, the tent city at the Mesilla Valley Community of Hope (MVCH). Strawn worked with MVCH Executive Director Nicole Martinez and Mark Westbrock with Positive Energy Solar, to get solar power to the Camp Hope shack for his Eagle Scout project. Westbrook said a donation from the Las Cruces Home Builders Association helped make the project possible with the solar power providing energy for air conditioning, lighting at night and other electric devices.
