Moday July 1st, Congressman Steve Pearce and several of his aides came to Mesilla Valley Community of Hope while visiting other non-profits in Las Cruces. This gave our staff and several of our board members a chance to introduce him to the work we do here at our agency and show him how our programs are helping the homeless. Congressman Pearce was very attentive and asked in depth questions about the challenges we face, including facing budget and funding cuts in this new fiscal year we are approaching. He and his staff promised to look into our funding sources, and they all seemed genuinely impressed by the scope of our programs and the diversity of services we provide our clients, including the Camp Hope program. When we took him on a tour of the Camp, he noted our community garden and offered to send us large plastic feed containers that his friends of his up North can not recycle, but would work well as planters for our garden next year.
We are all greatful to Congressman Pearce and his staff for taking the time to come and learn about our agency and for their interest in supporting our work with homeless in Las Cruces and Dona Ana County.
THANK CONGRESSMAN PEARCE FOR SUPPORTING THE HOMELESS!
