Saturday morning from 9am -12pm, the Optimist Club of Las Cruces and Border Servant Corps, and the Southern New Mexico Bicyclist Educator groups, working together, hosted the “Ride Right, Ride Bright” event on the Mesilla Valley Community of Hope Campus. They installed lights and reflectors on bikes and even did tune-ups and fixed tires for the homeless, all free of charge. They also set up an obstacle course to to teach bike riding safety. This is the second year I have personally participated in this great project and I know that the effort of this group to help keep the homeless safe on the road really makes a difference. And the homeless really appreciate their dedication and came out in force Saturday to enjoy getting their bikes worked on. It was a great way to start out the weekend.
Thanks to all the people involved with the Optimist Club of Las Cruces for coming out to help keep the homeless safe and road-worthy!
